AWESOME THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT U-CONNECT!

Ms. Dhaliwal’s Kindergarten and Grade One students are exploring patterns in math and environmental art. We took our adventures outside and had the students collaborate on a MATH-sterpiece. Next week we will look at some pieces by Andy Goldsworthy who is an artist/photographer that creates amazing Earth art in natural settings

TOONIES FOR TERRY
On Wednesday Sept 27 students participated in the Terry Fox Run. We met in the gym where Mr. Huang and Ms. Meadows talked to students about the importance of the event. Students then ran several laps around our field. Students are encouraged to bring a “Toonie for Terry”.  We will continue to collect Toonies all next week.

PHOTO DAY
Individual student photos will be happening next week.

  • Tuesday, October 3 for the K-12 Monday-Tuesday cohort
  • Thursday, October 5 for the K-7 Thursday cohort

PAC MEETING
The U-Connect PAC meeting will take place on Thursday, October 5 at 9:15 AM in the library. Everyone welcome!  We look forward to seeing you there.

MEET THE STAFF OPEN HOUSE
On Tuesday, October 10 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, we will be hosting a “Meet the Staff” open house.  We will begin in the gym with some sweet snacks where we will introduce all the members of our staff.  Then we will equip you with a map of the school and let your explore! Check out all the areas of the school; the three K classrooms, the high school Hub, as well as your child’s classroom!  We are looking forward to seeing you there!

STUDENT ABSENCE
If your child is going to be absent please make sure you call the office at 604-530-2361 to notify us ahead of time if possible.

STUDENTS LEAVING EARLY
If your child needs to leave early please notify your child’s teacher and check in at the office upon arrival. We will call your child to the office to meet you. Please do not go to their classroom to pick them up.

PARKING / DRIVING
Just a reminder that the speed limit in front of a school (in the school zone) is only 30 km/h.  Please drive slowly for the safety of our students, staff and families.

When dropping off students in the morning, please be mindful of the “Drop Off” lane in front of the school.  It is for dropping off students only.  DO NOT PARK in the drop off lane.  DO NOT leave your car while in the drop off lane.  We need to keep traffic in this lane flowing.  If you need to get out of your car or stay longer, please park in parking stalls in the school parking lot (north and west sides of the school).  Please do not park or drop off students in the Staff Parking Lot (east side of school).

Thanks for your cooperation.

WET WEATHER
As the weather starts to change, we will still try to get the students out as much as possible, even if it is raining.  Please ensure children are dressed for the conditions.  Students should have boots that can withstand the mud and small pools of water.

PETS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS
Just a reminder to all of our families to please keep dogs off of the school grounds during school hours (including before and after school). We have several children who have allergies or fear of dogs and we need all of our children to feel safe on the school grounds.

STUDENT LUNCHES
Please make sure to send your child with the proper utensils (fork or spoon) in their lunch should they need them. We have had several students coming into the office requesting plastic spoons and forks.
